Colorized
On her umpteenth glass of jaeger
She surprised him
Being sweet as cake
They go out
Have a tire swing race
Then it’s back into her twin bed for a walk in space

Off he drives
Over rumpled hills and valleys
In the half-light
As she dresses for her day
All these clouds
Changing swans and pillows race
As his memory slides from  highway lines to their walk in space

Weightless above the bed and out over fulton st.
Out past the bridge and up where the ridge and skyline meet
We’re never coming back oh houston cut my tether
Out where the sky is black oh houston
Floating like a feather

No reply
Here it’s days since his first letter
He was wide-eyed
Now he’s face down on the bed
He goes out
Many efforts to replace her
But he’s only drifting further into outer space
